• Oldcastle is looking for a Daytime Glass Tempering Furnace Operator in Hauppauge. They are looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience running a glass tempering oven.
• Capital One Bank is looking for a full time Teller to work in the Bay Shore-South Shore Mall. Applicants must have a High School Diploma (Or GED, or equivalent) and at least 6 months of customer Service experience.
• Family Dollar is looking for a NY Customer Service Representative to work out of their Suffolk Avenue Location. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• FEGS is looking for a Social Worker for the Mobile ACT Department. They are located in Central Islip. Applicants must have a Masters in Social Work as well as a valid Tri-State (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) Drivers License.
• SolarCity is looking for a PV Installer in Hauppauge. Requirements include 1 year in roof working, GED or High School Diploma, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, and a clean driving record.
• ABCO is looking for a Warehouse Associate to work out of their Hauppauge Warehouse. Requirements include certification with driving a forklift or Hilo, as well as an ability to lift 50+ lbs. Women and Minorities are encouraged to apply, as per the ad.

How to Apply to a Suffolk County Civil Service Position

Because of the popularity of prior posts regarding Civil Service Positions, The Brentwood CDC has created a handy primer on applying to Suffolk County Civil Service Positions.

Step 1: The Current Openings for Civil Service Positions are found on the Suffolk County Government web site, which is http://www.suffolkcountyny.gov.

Step 2: Hover your mouse over the Government Tab, which will open up a new frame. There’s no need to click on the tab, it should open automatically.

If you see this frame, click on “Civil Service” (It’s been highlighted for your convenience.)

Step 3: Now that you’ve clicked on the Civil Service Link, you should be on the Civil Service Page. You would also be able to reach this link by typing in http://www.suffolkcountyny.gov/Departments/civilservice.aspx.
Step 4: Once you’ve reached this page, click on the Green Button Titled “Current List of Exams”. This will give you a listing of all the open Suffolk County Government Civil Service Positions.
Tip: It’s always good to check back regularly, as postings are added every few weeks.
Tip: Check the FAQ’s section on the Civil Service page because it contains important information on what an Open-Competitve Exam is, a Promotional Exam, how long lists are open, and how to subscribe to Automatic County Examination Announcements.

The Civil Service Positions in the area could be found on the right-hand side of the page, under Government Agencies and Civil Service. Because New York State restricts internet users from posting information directly about their positions open, an RSS feed is located to the right side of this page under “New York State Open Competitive Exams”. Here are a few Suffolk County Civil Service exams open now that could lead to jobs:
