If you’re suspicious that a job ad might be a scam, research the company. Google “Name of Company Scam” and see what comes up. If you conclude the company can’t be trusted, report it. We don’t need more of these clogging up job boards.
Job ads are hard to understand. Different websites have different ways of letting you know whether they are posted through an agency, an employer, or direct marketing. If you see a good job, it may be hard to distinguish whether it’s a great opportunity or too good to be true. Brazen Careerist has made a short primer on determining what type of job you’re applying to by looking at the ad. They covered all the bases, helping job-seekers today. Don’t forget, you could also ask the librarians or valuable employees at the Career Center to help you figure out whether the ad is too good to be true. Ask! We could be located to the left of where you’re sitting (if you are on the Career Center Computers). If not, come to the library and see what services we have to offer.
